For a Jo with a disability, being part of a regular cycling club can be difficult. Jo missed both the camaraderie that comes with training in the club and the community around cycling. Tour de Jutland therefore became Michael’s way of bringing it back – an initiative to create a community where cyclists with and without disabilities can cycle side by side.
Last year a group cycled from Flensburg to Skagen in a project that was initially about proving that Jo could still push his limits. And still be in a social environment. But Tour de Jutland was more than a personal victory – it became a journey to overcome challenges and an opportunity to inspire others with disabilities to challenge themselves and dare to go on adventures. Jo experienced how much such a trip could mean, both to him and to everyone who participated. It emphasised how important it is to have someone to share your passion with and be a part of something bigger.
